MRGC has made a submission to the Victorian Parliamentary inquiry into VicRoads management of country roads.
The Victorian Parliament’s “Law Reform, Road and Community Safety Committee” is investigating issues that affect VicRoads ability to effectively manage the rural and regional declared (State operated) road network.
In its submission, MRGC has drawn the committee’s attention to the poor and deteriorating condition of the VicRoads network in northern Victoria.
The road network is critical to our region’s prosperity. Poor road condition means inefficient freight transport and increases the safety risk for our communities adding costs to all Victorians.
MRGC has highlighted the need for VicRoads to improve its management of its rural and regional road network and vitally, the critical need for the State Government to substantially increase the funding allocated to the management and maintenance of Victoria’s country roads.
