With the Basin Plan Ministerial Council meeting this week MRGC has issued a plea to Water Ministers to listen to our residents and not add to the distress and damage that has been caused by the floods.

Cr Rob Amos, the Chair of the Group said “Many in our communities, every industry is doing it tough with the floods, rising costs of living, and all this after Covid.

We have two key asks for Ministers when they meet this week: first, take a sensible approach and extend the Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) project deadlines. The health of our wetlands is really important to our communities. Secondly, understand that water Buy-Backs will further divide and hurt our communities that are already suffering – we can’t afford to lose any more productive water from northern Victoria.
